Arabic Pod 101 markets itself as the easiest, fastest and most fun way to learn Arabic. It’s an online-based learning system and wants to be a diffferent way to learn Arabic from all the standard textbooks that most people learn languages with.
When you arrive at the website, you can create a free account easily. You select your Arabic level (Beginner, Intermediate or Advanced), enter your email address or sign in using your Facebook account.
The idea behind Arabic Pod 101 is that now we are on our phones and devices often so why not use some of that time to learn Arabic? Arabic Pod 101 has over 1060 Video and audio Arabic lessons on their website and their aim is that you can learn Arabic wherever you are.
The podcast feature of Arabic Pod 101 is probably my favourite. The reason why I like this so much is because it’s a great way to learn Arabic when you are short on time and listen to people speaking with ordinary language rather than the usual “textbook” languages where you learn things that you have no need for. Innovative Languages (owner of Arabic Pod 101) has been featured by some of the big names such as BBC and The New York Times.
When you join this Arabic learning website you can choose between 3 levels: Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced. After logging in, you’ll be directed to a page where the website gives you the chance to choose if you want to receive the Arabic Word of the Day in your email. Such a lovely idea, perfect for encouragement and a nice and clever way to extend your Arabic vocabulary. When you subscribe to the Arabic Word of the Day, your words are delivered via email along with a picture, the English translation, sample sentences and audio pronunciation of that word.
When you login you can then see a fourth level which is Absolute Beginner.
The content of each level of Arabic Pod 101 varies with the difficulty. Absolute Beginner is designed when you know no Arabic and want to start learning Arabic from scratch or for something like going on holiday to an Arabic speaking country and includes things like 3-minute Egyptian Arabic and Absolute Beginner Arabic for Every Day. The icons next to the lesson indicate whether they are video or audio lessons.
Beginner is designed for people who have just started learning Arabic and have a tiny bit of background or have done the Absolute Beginner part of Arabic Pod 1o1. It starts you on your way to speaking conversational Arabic.
Intermediate is designed for people who already have a decent level of Arabic and want to build on this and take their Arabic to the next level and Advanced is for people who fluent in Arabic and are ready to discuss harder things in Arabic at a faster speaking speed.
